Education & Scholarship Committee

As of 2020 the GILD has awarded annual $2500 scholarships to support students interested in pursuing a career in the natural gas industry at selected institutions that have programs dedicated to the natural gas industry.

Scholarship Award Recipients:

2025 – Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. $2500 awarded to scholar: Reece Withall. Reece is embarking on a technical program designed to keep our industry innovative, safe, and sustainable. We can’t wait to see the impact he’ll make on the future of energy!

2023 –  Ivy Tech Community College. $2500 awarded to scholarship recipient, Tyler Rittel. Ivy Tech program coordinators shared: “Tyler Rittel started both the Electric Line Technical Certificate program, as well as the Natural Gas Technical Certificate program simultaneously in the fall of 2022.  In December, he will have completed both Technical Certificate programs in just a year and a half.  Because of your organization’s (GILD) generosity, Tyler has already signed up for more classes in the fall so he can obtain his AAS degree by May of 2024.”

2022 – Bridge Valley Community & Technical College in West Virginia. $2500 Awarded to Peter Reese, a student in the Instrumentation, Measurement,and Control – Natural Gas Program.

2020/2021 – Northwest Technical College in Wisconsin. $2500 Awarded to Larry Taylor, a student in the Gas Utility Construction course.

 

GILD Scholarship Requirements
1. The applicant must be a student who is entering, or currently enrolled in a trade school, college program or accredited apprenticeship with a degree or certificate in the field of Natural Gas. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.9 or higher, if applicable.
a. The number of scholarships and the amount of the award is to be recommended by the Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship will be awarded in recognition of academic achievement and financial need. Scholarship award is intended for use by the recipient to support tuition, fees, books, supplies or any other required materials.
2. This one-time, annual scholarship award shall be disbursed following submittal and review the completed GILD Scholarship Application Form and at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee, to the individual, or the education institution in the form of single payment. Payment will be made after the individual can provide proof of successful enrollment into an acceptable program. In the event that the individual withdraws from the institution before the second semester, or discontinues studies in the Natural Gas field, the individual is deemed ineligible.

    • Spearheading annual scholarship; selecting schools, etc.
    • Promote pursuit of Natural gas Industry career within the education community and industry.
    • Introducing education topics to GILD members for the betterment of the membership.
